Pampering for a Pound | Part 8

Pampering for a Pound is back and this time it showcases products from Makeup Gallery, St Ives, Nivea and Loreal. To read parts 1-7 which include brands such as Nivea, Rimmel, Revlon and Barry M click here. If this is your first time reading the Pampering for a Pound series all you need to know is that I love a bargain, and simply can’t resist passing a Poundland, Home Bargain, Poundworld or charity shop without having a nose. Although I adore my high-end brands, I honestly believe that high quality beauty products don’t have to break the bank. There’s so many amazing bargains and dupes out there! Today all my finds came from Poundland in Dunfermline…

Today’s Poundland haul includes: a nail varnish corrector pen, Nivea Pearl & Beauty 48h Anti-Perspirant, St Ives Dry & Sensitive Gentle Cleansing Wipes (the ‘refreshen’ version was also available), Loreal Color Riche Nail Polish in Insolent Magenta and Rose Paradis and Makeup Gallery Blusher in Candyfloss 2 and Single Eyeshadow in Pink Champagne 4 – all for the amazing price of only £1 each.

I started with a few essentials for my Summer holidays. This travel sized deodorant from Nivea is a necessity for travelling to Florida, and at 100ml it’s safe to pop in my hand luggage which is also very handy. The Dry & Sensitive Gentle Facial Cleansing Wipes from St. Ives soothe and cleanse in one easy step. These will be perfect for sticking in my handbag to quickly freshen up in between flights. Although I love my Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser, it’s not the best for using on the go. With no artificial fragrances, natural aloe vera extracts and almond oil, the wipes leave skin soft and nourished – perfect for using after a 6-hour flight!

My next two purchases were from Poundland’s award-winning in-house cosmetics range; Makeup Gallery. The super soft blush powder with added Vitamin E is a beautiful rosy pink shade and gives a pretty pop of colour. The blush is very buildable depending on what kind of look you’re going for and is surprisingly long-lasting. The eyeshadow is a buttery soft, highly pigmented, shimmering pale pink. The swatch below really doesn’t do it justice as it gives an almost metallic pale pink finish, which is very easy to apply with minimal fallout.

I also picked up a nail varnish remover pen which is always hand to have and two Loreal Color Riche Nail Polishes in Insolent Magenta and Rose Paradis. Poundland sells a lot of discontinued products and shades that are hard to find anywhere else, last week it was from Barry M, this week Loreal Paris. Insolent Magenta is a raspberry pink colour with a purple shimmer that is very difficult to get your hand on. Rose Paradis however, is a pale pink, perfect for creating french manicures, and still available at Superdrug priced £4.99! At only 5ml each these tiny glass bottles of gel based colour contain a precision paddle brush and give a long lasting high glossy shine.

My favourite buys this week are my two Makeup Gallery products. I was so surprised with their quality, this range just keeps on surprising me! The Loreal Riche Nail Colours are also a great buy with a saving of £3.99 when compared to Superdrug!
