The Konjac Sponge Co. French Green Clay Review

The Konjac Sponge Company is quickly becoming a beauty industry favourite. Featured in the pages of Glamour Magazine, their award-winning collection of skincare products are made with the purest, ethically sourced, Konjac and mineral rich extracts. I was delighted to be sent this 100% natural Green Clay facial Sponge from their collection to try.

So, what exactly is Konjac? The Konjac Potato or Konnyaku is a plant native to Asia. It can be found growing at very high altitudes and contains 97% water, is rich in minerals and is naturally alkaline and pH neutral, which leaves skin perfectly balanced. The Konjac Facial Sponge is handmade from the finest food grade Konjac whilst being 100% cruelty-free and certified vegan. It’s also biodegradable, so it can be composted or even used in the garden to help water the plants when it’s time to replace it!

The French Green Clay infused Konjac sponge is perfect for my combination skin and oily t-zone. The sponge itself is around 8cm wide and fits into the palm of my hand perfectly. When I first opened the packet the sponge was hard but it soon turns all squishy and silky soft when wet. I used my regular eye makeup remover first and then massaged the little sponge in circular motions around my face. I added a little of my favourite cleanser (Time Bomb’s Take-Off Time Cleansing Cream if you’re wondering) and concentrated on my problem areas (chin, nose and forehead), to gently exfoliate and give a deeper clean.

After a few days of using the Konjac Sponge I noticed that my complexion appeared brighter and my skin was touchabley smoother. Using the sponge with my cleanser definitely helped to give a more thorough clean, although it’s can also be used without additional skincare products too. As French Clay is one of nature’s strongest antiseptics, the sponge naturally draws out the nastiness (excess oils, dirt, bacteria and toxins) so is perfect for cleansing my combination skin. It has also improved the appearance of the pores around my nose, helped to remove any dead skin cells and restored a youthful glow to my skin. As well as giving a deep clean the sponge is also gentle enough to use around my sensitive eye area.

The Konjac Sponge can last up to 3 months when cared for properly. It is recommend that it’s stored somewhere dry and airy such as hung on a towel rail or radiator, and to gently squeeze out excess water, never twist or wring. Other varieties include; the Original 100% Pure Konjac Puff Sponge (suitable for all skin types), the Bamboo Charcoal Sponge (for oily & acne prone skin), French Red Clay Sponge (for mature, dry & damaged skin) and French Pink Clay Sponge (for tired skin). The Konjac Company also have a baby & child range suitable for newborns, as well as other 100% natural skincare products that I can’t wait to try next.

The Konjac French Green Clay Facial Puff Sponge is available here for only £7.99.
