Beauty | Pampering for a Pound – Garnier, Maybelline & Witch

Pampering for a Pound is back and this time it showcases products from Witch, Makeup Gallery, Garnier and Maybelline. To read parts 1-6 which include skincare from St. Ives, lip treatments from Nivea, argan hair treatments and nail polishes from both Rimmel and Revlon click here. If this is your first time reading the Pampering for a Pound series all you need to know is that I love a bargain, and simply can’t resist passing a Poundland, Home Bargain, Poundworld or charity shop without having a nose. Although I adore my high-end brands, I honestly believe that high quality beauty products don’t have to break the bank. There’s so many amazing bargains and dupes out there! Today all my finds came from Poundland in Edinburgh and Dunfermline…

This week I picked up four lovely products – the Witch Anti-Blemish Tinted Moisturiser in light, Makeup Gallery’s Quick Dry Nail Colour in Lilac Lush, Garnier Intense Care Moisturising Cream and Maybelline’s Color Show Blush ‘Em in I love Pink, all for, you guessed it, one pound each.

First up the Witch Anti-Blemish Tinted Moisturiser. Designed specifically for oily/combination skin types and infused with natural Witch Hazel, this fragrance and oil free moisturiser helps to mattify the skin whilst targeting spot prone areas with its antibacterial properties. The formula is quite thick and unfortunately a little too dark for my pale skin tone. This is a shame as the product does help to reduce shine and it’s medium coverage conceals redness and breakouts. It gives a smooth and lightweight finish that leaves skin hydrated throughout the day. A great product if you can find the right shade!

Next up Garnier’s Intense Care Moisturising Cream. This little pink pot is so versatile! It can be used on your body, face and hands. This is the perfect addition to my hand luggage, I’m all about multipurpose products this Summer (check out my review of the Dr Paw Paw Beauty Balm here) – they’re such great space savers when travelling. The cream absorbs instantly without leaving any greasy residue, leaving skin feeling soft and nourished. This is also perfect for popping in my handbag. For only £1 this is an absolute bargain!

This tiny blusher from Maybelline contains two soft pink shades that can be used separately or combined together to create a pretty pop of colour. The cooler shade acts as a highlighter and the darker can be used for contouring. The compact also comes with a brush but I prefer to combine both colours using my Real Techniques blusher brush. The blush is a little on the chalky side, but is richly pigmented and very blendable. Again, I warn you this is a very small compact so separating the colours can be tricky but its possible. This is a lovely addition to my ever growing blush collection.

And finally Makeup Gallery’s Time to Shine Quick Dry Nail Colour in Lilac Lush. This is my first purchase from the collection exclusively available at Poundland. I was immediately drawn to their selection of pastel shades. Lilac Lush is surprisingly highly pigmented, I only needed 2 coats to achieve the above colour, which I think is impressive for a £1 nail colour. The varnish gives a high gloss finish and dries very quickly. I found it chipped within a day so I recommend a good base and top coat such as OPI’s Start to Finish. The Makeup Gallery range recently won the The Grocers Gold Award 2015 for Own-Label Brand of the Year, I can’t wait to try other products in this range, especially their lip liners and lipsticks.

What do you think about pound shops – have you picked-up any bargains recently? Please leave me a little comment below and don’t forget to follow me on bloglovin, it always makes my day hearing from my lovely readers!
