Fitness | Week 1 – Charlotte Crosby’s 3 Minute Belly Blitz

“And what is sweat Charlotte?” “It’s your fat crying!”

With less than 5 months to go until the wedding – it’s time to get serious people! I don’t know about you but ever since Christmas I’ve been stuffing my face with comfort food and have had no desire to do anything that involves leaving the couch. I decided that it’s finally time to take the dusty cellophane off my fitness DVDs and start working for a body I can be confident in for my honeymoon.

This week I started Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby 3 Minute Belly Blitz workout plan. Love her or hate her, Belly Blitz is currently the #1 bestselling fitness DVD on Amazon and has broke records as the fastest selling fitness DVD ever in the UK, selling 101k copies in just one month. The DVD cover alone is motivation enough, nobody can deny that she looks amazing!

So my goal is to complete the workout at least 3 times a week, drink plenty of water, get my 5 a day and stay off the junk food – simples. I’ve been a yo-yo dieter most of my life, I’ve never truly been happy with my body. I cringe at holiday snaps and always feel ridiculously self-conscious in swimwear. With my holiday of a lifetime coming up I decided it’s time to stop moaning and do something about it. I thought writing a diary post like this would motivate me to stick to a routine, something I’ve always been really rubbish at.

So the workout was devised by Richard Callender from ITV’s Biggest Loser, along with Charlotte and weight loss expert David Souter, Richard takes you through a warm-up, 12 routines, cool down and a 10 minute extra abs workout. Each routine is only 3 minutes long and alternates between high intensity cardio and resistance moves. The routines consist mainly of kick boxing moves; kicks, punches and skipping and push-ups, squats and planks.

Each routine is different which is perfect for me as I tend to get bored of repetitive moves. It’s recommend to build up the number of fitness routines you do depending on your fitness levels. I, being a muppet, decided to do all 12 on my first go and therefore was in agony the day after. It’s safe to say this is definitely a tough workout, but wow, it’s effective! It doesn’t just work your belly, but your arms and thighs too. If you’re not a fan of Charlotte like I am don’t let this put you off, there’s no time for chit chat as it’s straight into the routine and she’s a lot more reserved in this than she is in Geordie Shore!

I’m already starting to see the results after only one week. So far I’ve made it through all 12 routines each time but I really had to push myself and there was a few instances I thought I wasn’t going to make it. I don’t think I’ve ever been so exhausted in my life! I can’t believe how composed Charlotte and the other professionals look throughout – and they do it with weighted gloves too! It’s safe to say I was one sweaty messy on the floor after day one. There are two versions of the exercises; the expert version and a beginners version. I had to chop and change between each one but my main goal was to not give up. Week 1 has been a success, I just hope I can keep the momentum going in week 2!
