Recently I was lucky enough to experience the blissful Bannatyne’s Expert Facial at their Spa in Dunfermline. The lovely staff were so welcoming and made me feel very comfortable throughout my visit. My treatment started with a divine back and neck massage and then moved on to the facial itself, which involved a deep cleanse and tone and a ‘results orientated mask’ to ensure my skin was cleansed, oil and water levels were re-balanced and to improve elasticity. Whilst the mask penetrated my skin I was treated to a luxurious hand and arm massage. My facial concluded with Bannatyne’s own specialist moisturiser and a relaxing scalp massage. My treatment lasted for one hour and usually costs £38 but I had vouchers to use from Christmas. The whole experience was absolute heaven, so much so I decided to invest in a few products from the Bannatyne’s skincare range to take home.
I bought ‘Timecode – The Skincare Collection’ gift set from Tesco’s limited edition Christmas range which included, along with a gold cosmetic bag and a £10 spa voucher, travel sized samples of the Replenishing Cleansing Milk & Toner (50ml each), a small jar of their Anti Aging Eye Cream (5ml) and a full-sized Replenishing Day Moisturiser (50ml) .
Replenishing Cleansing Milk
Suitable for normal to dry skin, this gentle daily cleansing Milk contains three key ingredients (Lecithin, Hyaluronic acid & Betane if you’re interested) to help prevent premature signs of ageing. This is something I really need help with, with 26 right around the corner, I can definitely notice the lines on my forehead becoming deeper and more pronounced. All products have a slight variation of the same signature scent which is not overpowering but delicate and fresh. The milk removed my makeup thoroughly with minimal effort, and left my skin feeling clean, replenished (not surprisingly!) and hydrated. The milk contains ‘Timecode’ and Q10 which helps the cleanser to replace and lost moisture. The cleansing milk retails for £9.99 and makes a great start to my potential new skincare routine, now onto step two…
Replenishing Toner
Again this toner is suitable for normal to dry skin and contains four key ingredients (this time Camellia Sinensis, Sepitonic, Aloe Vera & Cucumber) to treat signs of ageing. The toner has a slightly more intense smell than the cleansing milk but is still pleasant. The toner removed the very last trace of makeup and cleanser leaving my skin feeling extra fresh, slightly glowing and extremely clean. The toner is suitable for dry, dehydrated, mature and sensitive skin, and also retails for £9.99.
Replenishing Day Moisturiser
The moisturiser feels luxuriously creamy when applying, but sinks into skin effortlessly with no residue, and is surprising lightweight. Skin feels soft and pampered as well as hydrated and radiant. The moisturiser also contains Timecode which claims to “support the skin’s structure, increase firmness and help to redefine facial contours” – as with all skin products, I like to give my first impressions and then follow up with my thoughts after a month so I can comment on its more long term effects, so stay tuned for an update! The Replenishing Day Moisturiser retails for £24.99 and an accompanying night cream is also available at £28.99.
Anti-Ageing Eye Cream
Once again this product features Timecode to tackle puffiness, dark circles, sagging and dreaded crow’s feet. A combination of Jojoba, Argan and Cranberry seed oil help to firm and rejuvenate the eye area. I don’t tend to suffer from any puffiness or dark circles but I’ve started to notice some fine lines around my eye area so I was glad this was included in the gift set! As with the moisturiser I will update you on my thoughts regarding its long term effects. A full-size version of the Anti-Ageing Eye Cream comes in a rollable stick and retails for an impressive £12.99! A bargain compared to other skincare brands.
So my first impressions of the Bannatyne Spa Collection have been really positive! I will continue using the products to get a feel of the more long term effects regarding its anti-aging properties and whether or not I will be repurchasing the range. I’m really curious about the Bannatyne’s Mirco Exfoliation Powder (yes, that right powder!) so hopefully I’ll get to try this soon too. My only criticism is with the Bannatyne website, as I couldn’t see any information regarding the size of the products which I think is a must when buying online! There’s nothing worse than ordering a product and receiving something travel sized or disappointing, and while the images of the bottles look substantial it’s always nice to have this info on hand. Other than this I’m really impressed with The Spa Collection and can’t wait to try the rest of this lovely collection!
