This Christmas I was given a lovely gift from my friend and gorgeous bridesmaid – a personalised Make Your Own Lip Balm Kit from Sweet Cecily’s. As I love to make things and obviously have a passion for anything skincare and beauty related, I was ridiculously excited by this pressie as soon as I unwrapped it! Inside the box contains little sachets and jars of natural ingredients such as shea butter, cocoa butter, beeswax and Almond & Calendula oil, as well as five empty tins, labels and full instructions to help you create your own strawberry lip balm.
So here’s a bit about Sweet Cecily’s; it’s a family run, Yorkshire based company that makes beautifully packaged handmade natural skincare products. Founded in 2010 and developed by brother and sister duo Cecily and Hugo, the idea stemmed from Cecily’s own experiences with troublesome skin and her failed attempts to find an affordable and natural remedy. With her father already running a natural product company manufacturing herbal medicines, Cecily saw the opportunity to use the expertise of her families business to create her own affordable, cruelty-free skincare range, completely free from parabens, Petrochemicals, harmful preservatives and SLS.
What is so unique about this company is that it was developed and nurtured by an online community of creative and talented designers, illustrators, entrepreneurs and followers through social media. Cecily and Hugo have produced products in collaboration with their online community, family and friends to produce a skincare range that uses only the best natural ingredients and a unique flavours combinations, such as their delicious and bestselling Pina Colada and Mojito flavoured lip balms.
My Make Your Own Lip Balm Kit was a lot of fun to use, and more importantly it produced 5 gorgeously scented lip balms that I can’t wait to share with my friends and family. I loved creating my own beauty product and designing the packaging – isn’t it every girls dream to have her own makeup and skincare range? This kit would make a lovely gift for both adults and children and I was delighted to find out that Sweet Cecily’s Etsy, Not on the High Street and official website sell a body scrub and face mask version too!
Sweet Cecily’s is simply a lovely and unique beauty brand whose natural, ethically sourced, cruelty-free, collaborative collection is truly inspirational.
