For Christmas I received the Benefit Skincare 6 piece miniature gift set (rrp £14.50). I love little introductory sets like this that allow you to try best selling products before investing in full sized bottles, like the Smashbox Try It kit or bareMinerals Greatest performers kit, that’ll be reviewing soon. This little bargain includes Benefit’s Foaming Clean Facial Wash (8.9g), Refined Finish Facial Polish (8.9g), Moisturising Prep Toning lotion (8.9g), Triple Performing Facial Emulsion (8.9ml), Total Moisture Facial Cream (3g) and It’s Potent! Eye Cream (3g).
The set comes in a clear plastic bag which is hardly luxurious but the samples themselves are packaged in deluxe little glass jars. For such a small amount inside, the miniatures feel really substantial and heavy, as well as looking very pretty on my dressing table.
It’s Potent! Eye Cream
This is the one product in the set that I have actually tried before thanks to September’s ‘Happy Days’ Birchbox. For some reason I’ve never used an eye cream, perhaps it’s because they always seem to come in tiny little jars with a ridiculously hefty price tag! I probably should start in 2015 as years of refusing to wear my glasses, constantly screwing up my eyes and squinting has left definite fine lines. The It’s potent! cream has a delicate scent that doesn’t overpower and sinks into the skin easily, leaving a soft and refreshed feeling. I only used a tiny amount and when it comes to skincare it’s unfair to comment on it’s anti-aging results after just one application but I definitely noticed an instant brightening and softening effect. It’s Potent! contains a ‘peptide complex’ that promises to help restore elasticity and firmness. It also contains a blend of botanical extracts such as apple that boost collagen and protect the skin from ‘free radical damage’. A full sized jar of It’s Potent! retails at £25.50 for 14.2g.
Foaming Clean Facial Wash
A little of this thick, powerful facial wash on damp skin goes a long way. The wash cleanses effectively, removing most visible signs of makeup and impurities (only a little amount of panda eye was left) and leaving skin squeaky clean. It foams slightly on the skin giving a creamy gentle lather and surprisingly doesn’t leave skin as dry, tight and thirsty as facial washes tend to do on my skin. A full sized tube the Foaming Clean Facial Wash retails at £17.50 for 127.5g.
Moisturising Prep Toning Lotion
As much as I like the delicate little glass jars they’re not the easiest to get the product out of. I found the design of the bottle quite difficult to get a substantial amount of the lotion out on to the cotton wool pad, as this toner is a lot thicker and luxurious than watery as others tend to be. The toner removed surprising yet more makeup and is beginning to restore moisture and a suppleness back to skin after cleansing. My skin is also beginning to develop a lovely glow. The Moisturising Prep Toning Lotion retails at £23.50 for 177.4ml.
Triple Performing Facial Emulsion
So i’ll admit I got a little confused on what order and when to actually use some of the goodies in this set, I’m just a cleanse, tone and moisturise girl – and even then I tend to miss out a few steps! Anyway this oil-free lightweight lotion creates a SPF 15 moisture barrier to protect and hydrate skin leaving skin glowing and soft. The lotion hydrates instantly for the perfect pick me up this winter if your skin begins to feel itchy and tight in the colder months. The Triple Performing Facial Emulsion retails at £21.50 for 50.3ml.
Total Moisture Facial Cream
Thicker and richer than the facial emulsion the cream contains mango butter which helps skin to feel luxuriously soft – definitely the ultimate moisturising treat! The cream is highly concentrated so again only a little is needed. The cream is rich but not heavy as it sinks seamlessly into the skin creating an effective moisture barrier to promote long lasting hydration. The Total Moisture Facial Cream retails for £28.50 for 48.2g.
Refined Finish Facial Polish
And finally this gentle but effective exfoliator further helps to purify the skin with seaweed extracts whilst removing dead skin cells and making pores appear smaller. The tiny sand-like grains gently buff skin and work in collaboration with the other skincare products to reveal skins natural radiance. Benefit recommend that this is used 1-2 times a week and followed with their Total Moisture Facial Cream. The Facial Polish retails at £18.50 for 127.5g.
The Benefit B. right! Skincare range also includes the Remove It Makeup Remover (£16.50/177.4ml), Ultra Radiance Facial Re-hydrating Mist (£20.50/133.1ml), Instant Comeback Serum (£36/30ml), Dream Screen SPF 45 (£25/45ml) and Boo Boo Zap! (£13.50/7.4ml). This set is a great value introduction to the Benefit Skincare range. These six lovely little treats left my skin moisturised and ultimately glowing! At £14.50 this limited edition gift set is an absolute steal! Now I just need to save up my pennies to buy the full sized versions!
